The celebration of a marriage in Costa Rica has to comply with all necessary requirements, formalities and procedures. For this reason we offer our high quality services. Marriage is granted before a Notary Public and we offer this service anywhere in Costa Rica and abroad, if necessary.
The legal requirements are:
- The Bride’s and Groom’s Marital Status Certification from the country of origin .
- A certificate showing that the bride and groom do have or do not have children.
- ID copies of the Bride, the Groom and two witnesses (who can be relatives or friends, but of legal age).
The following information needs to be provided by the Bride and Groom:
1. Full name
2. Profession or Occupation
3. Current Home Address
4. Passport number and nationality
5. Marital Status
6. Date and Place of Birth
7. Father’s and Mother’s full name, nationality and ID’s number
8. Mailing Address, email addresses and phone numbers
9. The following information is required from the two witnesses:
a. Full name
b. Profession or Occupation
c. Current Home Address
d. Passport number and nationality
e. Marital Status
Once the marriage is celebrated, ERP Lawyers & Associates will take care of registering it before our Civil Registry, which may take three weeks or less. If foreigners so desire, we additionally offer the service of legalizing the Marriage Certificate, so it can be recorded in their country of origin.
