On September 29, the General Directorate of Immigration and Immigration informed the public that DIMEX renewal appointments may be requested as of October 1st, 2022.
Therefore, foreign persons whose DIMEX has expired and to whom the automatic extension is established in resolution No. DJUR-0197-12-2021-JM, published in the digital scope La Gaceta N.4 on January 10th, 2022, they may request the corresponding appointment to process the renewal within the three months following October 1st, 2022.
Meanwhile, the term of the DIMEX will be extended until the day of the appointment if it is requested within the period of three months after October 1st, 2022.
Where can I request an appointment?
The appointment can be requested:
a) Calling 1311.
b) Migration Appointments web portal.
c) 800-BCR Appointment.
Where is the renewal process carried out?
• In offices of Migration, Bank of Costa Rica and Post Office of Costa Rica
• The foreign person must present the corresponding renewal requirements according to their category on the day of their appointment.
The appointment for the renewal process will be scheduled from January 1st, 2023 and must be requested within three months after October 1st, 2022. Therefore, the expiration of the DIMEX will be extended until the day of the appointment.
Which are the requirements?
In general, regardless of the category, the following requirements exist:
1. Any identification document: expired DIMEX, passport, license
2. Be registered and up to date with the CCSS
3. Payment of fees
